Gottfried Mehnert, known as a pioneer in the plastics industry, developed his first blow molding machine at the age of 20. Since then, with his vision and wealth of inventions, he has played a very significant part in the writing of blow molding technology history.
As the founder of BEKUM Maschinenfabriken GmbH (1958 in Berlin), he has assembled a group of companies successful worldwide with two production facilities. Mr. Mehnert’s trend setting innovations include the first neck finish calibration in the world (1959), the first double-station machines (1963), six-layer co-extrusion (1970), and the continuing developments in the extrusion blow molding sector.
Two production facilities, one located in Traismauer, Austria and the other in Williamston, Michigan US continue the successful construction of blow molding machines of all sizes. In Berlin, the Sales and Marketing, Development and Design, Service, and Spare Parts Sales divisions have recently relocated to modern new offices from which they will continue to provide excellent customer service and ensure the continued technical development of individual customer solutions, supported by employees with many years of experience.
As managing partner, Gottfried Mehnert still epitomizes the ingenuity of BEKUM Maschinenfabriken GmbH. In 2006, Mr. Mehnert's contribution to the Plastics Industry were recognized when he was inducted into the Plastics Hall of Fame.
