About Bekum
Gottfried Mehnert, known as a pioneer in the plastics industry, developed his first blow molding machine at the age of 20. Since then, with his vision and wealth of inventions, he has played a very significant part in the writing of blow molding technology history.

As the founder of BEKUM Maschinenfabriken GmbH (1958 in Berlin), he has assembled a group of companies successful worldwide with five production facilities on three continents to date. These account for over 20,000 shipped machines as well as over 40 Patents and trend-setting innovations. Including the first neck finish calibration in the world (1959), the first double-station machines (1963), six-layer co-extrusion (1970), and continuing developments in the extrusion blow molding sector.
As managing partner, Gottfried Mehnert still epitomizes the ingenuity of BEKUM Maschinenfabriken GmbH. In 2006, Mr. Mehnert’s contribution to the Plastics Industry were recognized when he was inducted into the Plastics Hall of Fame.
